Default Veterans Apprication Run Disco Bay

Last years I missed the run due to a destroyed trailer axle. The time is approaching again and I haven't seen any information for this year. Is the run done or still happening?

last year was our 3rd one( the OG rain out was by far the best)this event is for a great cause and effort for all and i understand the great effort/money to pull this off and we will still donate to the SOME GAVE ALL... hope i dont piss on anyone's cheerios but i personally don't give a shit if i do this is just my story/opinion and opinions are like buttholes...but i personally didn't enjoy last years run neither did my crew i had aboard my boat all veterans a marine sergeant, a marine corporal, army infantry and my dad 19 years air force and won't be doing this years. no parking for boats unless you were somebody in a special circle (yes arrived early),most of the people were pretty stuck up, got told about which route to take but didn't see another boat once we got out of the disco area. ended up with 4 other lost boats at franks track had them follow me on a the goose chase to bum fuk egypt and back. get back tuff to find parking, food and drinks is basically gone went to union point for food and drinks and finish up our day on the river... it has lost its OG vibe to glitz and glamour... now this is my 2 cents and should not affect the outcome of the event... i hope everyone else shows up to support this great program

I call it the brain tube, I've been telling her the more time she spends on it, the smarter it's going to make her.

Shorter course questions. I spoke with Kevin Graves earlier today about a shorter course for those peeps that dont want to run the long course thru Rio Vista etc. What would you guys like to do? I suggested Porthole then Moores or vice versa so peeps might get to see the big boys running back. I also told him the small boats should leave earlier than the big boys so they can stage up near the Lighthouse & watch the big boys take off. Suggestions please

Good topic! Getting everyone back for lunch at about the same time is a good idea. The guys that want to run slower should try to get out earlier. It's fun to see some of the faster boats come by. This should be a run for all boats that are willing to participate.
This has always been a boat ride with no stops so I don't think stopping at Porthole or Moore's is a good plan if that's what you mean. I think we run the same course with the short coarse turning around at 3 mile & The Sac. river. Each boat Caption can choose if they should turn back at Rio Vista or make the full loop. What do you think?

However they do it, the coarse should be run backwards (counter rotation) that way all the big boats will be running down hill (5 mph) instead of trying to maintain 5 or 6 mph into a 4 mph current. All of the marinas and fishermen might look at us differently.

Good point. By time we came through last year in the 24' Hallett at end of the pack, there were some pissed off people. Running down river would help solve that.

The short course could be running the North Mokelumne River and back down the south.

I like the idea of reversing the course so we run down river from Walnut Grove and agree that everyone needs to get back at the same time.
I suggested a stop for the short course so any Vets or crew that would need a restroom and allow however many boats do the short course to help with docking etc. I'm not in charge in ANY way, just trying to help.

    Saturday, 9am Disco Bay Marina.

    From Glenn Hoffman
Good afternoon fellow boaters. If youve already registered to come out and help us with the Veterans this Saturday, thank you. If you haven't decided yet, we are in need of seats for an about 80 Veterans. We've had 100 sign up and so far we only have about 20 seats confirmed.

    Default Veterans Run

Absolutely the best run to date, the opinions voiced would indicate next year will be better yet!

Thank-you to all that served and their families.
