take a moment and explain the issues you're having. I'm no pro, but I've had my fair share of hunting down issues and glitches, as I'm sure most of us have. Maybe one of us has had the problems you're experiencing and can point you in the right direction.

First had a problem with the router---- replaced it, worked fine for a couple months. Then the router changed its name and pass word. Kinda strange, but OK.

Next, started having problems with my laptop staying connected to the internet. Got the GEEK Squad to come out and take a look.
Dude said my wireless card went out--BULL SHIT, can get on the internet, just not my home net work. Dude said that SBC DSL sucked, and we needed to change to comcast. Bullshit, having no problems with SBC, but what ever. Still having problems with my lap top-- could be all the porn-- but then the wifes laptop started having problems also-- no porn--.

Ended up having to take the cable off of the router and run it straight from the modem to the desk top so the wife can work.

So I am stealing the internet from someones network, wife cant use her laptop cause she cant get on the net work, internet or use the printer cause of the whole net work issue.

So here I am, kinda dumb on this stuff and need someone to fix it for me.

there it is in a nut shell.

    Excellent rant

    Couple questions;

Do you have the 2WIRE (brand) Gateway Modem with built-in wireless?
    and...
Can you hear the cooling fans running on your lap top/s? Does it sound like they're in high gear, pumping a bunch of air to cool your computer/s? Or are they quiet and barely audible? Or... is 1 noisy, and the other quiet? (Hope that's not too personal ) Sometimes mine will start to sound like a (very muffled, but distinct) vacuum cleaner! PUMP that cooling air baby! lol

    we'll get there, no worries

Wireless Router has firewall settings, so does modem. They will not get along, Internet provider updates its modem firewall all the time to protect its server. You need to have your modem "bridged" You can access it and its settings while wired direct, you will use an internet explorer address (get it on line) that looks like http/193.155.120- when you in find the setting that is commonly refered to as bridged. Enable it. This turns off the firewall protection that the modem has, allows the wireless router to finally work again. 3 days, 3 companys to figure this out. I heard all the same false diagnosis that you did, it was the wireless router company that finally set me straight, of course they couldnt change modem settings, but I made ATT do it, and that wasnt easy. Tell me your not using a Belikn Wireless Router w/ ATT Highspeed internet modem are you?

No Dan, I have a streamline modem that is older than hell.
Getting Uveres next week and all should be good.
Faster, modem and router all in one dealio.

Talked to a couple people, one works for AT&T, they say
it's the shit, faster than Troys boat.

Post from a Iphone is a pain in the ass.
