    Default Newby to DLB

Hey finally got PB to let me post; I think it is because IE doesnt like PB but Mozilla does....

Anyways.... new here to DLB, live in SAC area and been doing my boating at the river and all over central valley, Folsom, Berryessa, Clear Lake and as far as Shasta and WHiskeytown. Use to go to Colero, Lexington, Anderson and Coyote, but thats really dating me. Most of those are closed now.

Grew up in Southbay area - (SJ, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara) Cupertino Class of '80 and went to West Valley College. The delta was my home away from home growing up, hanging around Lighthouse Resort, one of my friends parents used to own it. We also hung around Franks Tract alot and Bethel (as kids) skiing.

I have recently picked up a 1975 Sanger Flatbottom and its a machine that likes to stretch its legs. 468 BBC, twin tunnel ram, all the goodies. looking forward to coming out and running around with everyone.

Im an electrician by trade so if anyone needs any electrical help on any type of project, Ive been doing it for 27 years.

    Names Paul

    Thanks!

Thanks TT, just need to make it sea-worthy and dependable. I know thats almost next to impossible with these boats, but as long as it floats and goes I'll be happy.

Whats with the shifter looking handle on the right stringer? Is that for the tranny? Maybe an eject mechanism for the passenger if they get scared??? One word of advice, watch for cruiser wakes at high speeds in the main channel.

I see a tranny in one of the pics, that would be my guess.
    Good looking boat though.
    welcome aboard...

Yea it has a Powerglide tranny installed in it, thats the shifter for it. I believe it was installed after that fact by one of the owners to make it more "family friendly" with a low gear for marinas and a reverse gear. Otherwise the two-speed is useless and I prefer not to use the reverse due to possible swamping.... not good either!

I can shift into neutral with the motor running which is convenient as the casale lever is covered by the front seat box.

Ejection is done manually if you let go of the grab handle!!!!!

Yeah - advice taken/ I dont normally cruise the main channel looking for cruiser wakes to practice high speed passes over. My choice would be to find the nice flat-water sloughs in the back woods where no one else is to try my triple digit runs.

Ive mostly been running up on the north SAC river by Swabbies and tend to find it pretty vacant between Teal Bend and Verona. Can get it opened up pretty well up there with no one but fishermen around.

Ive been told its a "100 mph boat", what that means is yet to be proven, and whether or not it will be a "one-time-100-mph-run" and thats all she wrote or not!... lol Thats my biggest worry I guess. Isnt it true they always run the best just before they blow?....

I have only had the boat a short time and have only had it up to about 79 on GPS @ about 5000rpm before it last crapped out on me. It had alot of pedal to go, but will have to see. Need to do a few more shake-down runs with it to see what she has to give.

    Default Another newb

    Hi,

I'm also new to this group. Lurked for a few years. Now that I can get out more often, I thought I'd introduce myself. I've recognized a few of you on the water up around Sacramento especially during the No Poker - Poker Run. I'm currently in Sacramento and play up here too. Here's a pic of me & meboat it was taken on the SJ below Stockton.

I've run across a profile a few years back of someone who had a boat that looked much like mine. I can't remember if they were in the dlb or not. Anyways, thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself.

    Thanks,
    Dub

Welcome Dub, you may want to post a fresh thread with all your info on it so more people see it. Post up your boat bio info and some more pics too. Looks like a fine cruiser!
