    Default ignore list

I'm wondering if it's possible to make it so a person on your ignore list cannot post in threads you start? There are a lot of stalkers and other thread crappers out there and a lot of good topics seem to get ruined by one clown with a grudge. Might make the moderators lives' a bit easier too by nipping these problems in the bud.
And yes, I realize such a rule may prevent me from posting in some threads but it's a risk I'm more than willing to take

    that'd be an awesome feature

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

Interesting thought. I don't know of any readily available function that would do this, but I will think about it. I see some fairly large side effects with this and I think adoption would have to undergo some very careful scrutiny by the mods.

In short, no there is no feature like this, but I will add it to a list of ideas that might get reviewed again in the future. The thread crappers suck, no question.

I don't know why any of you guys reply as it is. What ever happened to NOT FEEDING THE TROLL?
Hell, they've already made it so ignore list turds can't send you PM's (thank God!). Why not take it a step further and eliminate their ability to crap on your threads?

I'm all for it! Ignore feature would have a much greater impact and those seeking to not get ignored would start acting like real people instead of trolls.

I think that might be a bit much to expect. Some 'people' are just stalkers, thread crappers and trolls...it's their make-up and they can't act any other way. My whole point is to save useful, informative threads from being shat upon, and also to hopefully retain some of the highly knowledgable contributors who may be considering calling it quits and keeping their expertise to themselves.
My interest in the world of boating is JETS. And in our small community I can think of at least two guys who are at the very top of their field that used to post but now stay away....due entirely to thread crappers.

Perfect example of a thread crapper plying his trade.
I start a thread inquiring about the weight of a trailer and this troll just can't help himself.

Funny how you have no problem with the cheap shot, just with the guy pointing out that it was a cheap shot. What other screen names do you operate under, if I might ask?
    Killer stuff as ever CS!
I didn't see a cheap shot as you put it in the guys post. I saw some sarcastic humor actually(I read a lot of that here), and didn't post it to give anyone a breakdown.

I have one log in here, this one. If you'd like to dig further, I work in Oildale and am a Pipeline technician in a distribution farm near Famoso Dragstrip.

That should give you something to work with. Yes, I have a boat. It's not a race boat, and I don't have $50,000 sunk in it, but I do enjoy it and that's why I'm here. I don't particularly enjoy the group beatdowns that I read while I lurked here for 2 years before joining.

As far as I know, this is a public Forum. You have your opinion and Whity has his, as do I.

Too bad it ruffled your feathers when I posted mine, but since YOU weren't involved either way, I think the problem lies with you.

I intend to keep reading, and posting when I want to. To bad if that ruffles your feathers also.

By the way, I am a UNION Pipeline Technician, and I'm a DEMOCRAT.

That should really piss you off, but you will get over it.

    Pump
    ?
What does that have to do with you repeatedly crapping on just about every thread I start? Not to mention taking your little lame-ass cheap shots at me in the prf....where I don't even post any more.
With any luck ignore list trolls like yourself won't be able to crap on the threads of members who are trying to ignore your dumb ass. I have a feeling your posting activity will take a huge hit from that.
Oh, and NO, I don't wish to be your friend, so you can take your 'friend request' and shove it up your arse sideways. Better luck next life.

If it is your thread, can't you just delete unwelcome replies and preserve the useful information?

Nope. I'm pretty sure only the moderators can delete the unwelcome. And in the case of my favorite stalker (above, post 10), the mods likely would delete his dickish replies....if they were alerted to them. But I have no interest in taking up their time with complaints about this twit, I'd prefer it if those on one's ignore list simply couldn't pollute their threads with worthless crap. Perhaps some day.

Interesting subject. As I understand it if some prick isn't contributing to the subject matter ot if they are just being dicks with their comments....don't the mods just lock the thread or put said poster on probation/ban that user?

It will be interesting to see where this leads with all the "why's everybody leaving PB" threads that have been posted. Kind of a rock and hard spot deal.

As I said I think that if the mods receive complaints about dickhole posters they'll likely take action. Deleting posts, giving dickish posters a vacation, etc. But unless someone complains it seems nothing is usually done. I don't know about you, but I'd really rather not go snitch to the mods because someone's being a putz.
The 'ignore' feature is great, as it stops the unsolicited PMs. If they could somehow take it a step further as suggested that would be even better.
