    Call Schneider Racing Cams... 619-297-0227

Talk to Jerry or Kevin... they will hook you up with a cam that will work great. I have built simmular combo's using their "ZL" flat tappet grinds and been very pleased with the results. They can taylor it to suit your needs specifically rather than just trying to find one that "ought to work, close enough."

I won't sell a flat tappet to a racer. To many issues that I have no control over. BBC are the worst with their lifter bore angles.

No racer here The boat will be a lake boat/hot rod and get run mabee 3-4x a day. I try and run the river a few x a yr but norm just a local small man made lake where we camp and bring out the floating living room( mastercraft wakeboard boat) ! It holds enough beer and water for 15-20 people and enough radio to hear it lake wide! But thanks for the heads up!

Cores are not what they use to be and lifters are not even close. I am at 27 roller cam replacements for failed flat tappets this year. Flat tappets to me are Russian Roulette. I understand the cost factor but if the flat tappet fails what is your time worth and materials to do it all over again. A hyd roller and it is done, go boating.

Just went through this with a custom FT grind from a very well known manufacturer. It went flat in less than 10min. on the break in stand. Wiped out half the lobes. All the proper precautions were taken, good EDM lifters, etc.
You pays your money, you takes your chances with any...and I mean any FT cam.

Your not lying, But why is it YOU and Chris are the only ones "Sniveling" about flat tappets? When is the last time YOU even built an engine with a flat tappet? Since Chris doesn't even Grind Cams....Maybe the place HE orders them from just SUCKS! Ever consider THAT? Maybe his "Cad program" needs an update?

    Chris,

There are some applications where a hyd roller is a very suitable solution.

It might be hard for that Hydralic Roller lifter to spend enough time on the seat at high Rpm To keep prime. No prime leads to a SMALLER CAMSHAFT (duration and lift)..
No prime on the lifter can also do funny things to pushrods. like bending and jumping around.... And im sure you know what happens when a roller lifter breaks...... its a needle bearing easter egg hunt in side the bottom of your Engine.. To me thats a Russian Roulette Game as well.

OF course none of this applies if you have some type of rev limiter device.. (but...MSD CAN GET EXPENSIVE) $$

So With that being said a 18 foot jet boat that can rev 6 to 7,500 at a blink of a eye, (hoping out of the water, Blowing the pump away at launch...Or in some cases a horrible pump job...etc...or i even seen some guys have problems with weeds and or grass..lol) HYD roller might NOT be the best for a smaller boat applications. But with this one being 21 feet should be fine>?<
