The hole throttle body and intake manifold has a coating of oil inside. Looks like its coming from the valve cover breather passage on the throttle body. Im thinking worn rings allowing to much blow by and forcing oil up the breather, but what else could cause this. Any opinions? Its a 98 Merc 7.4L MPI and Bravo 1.

Gonna go out on a limb and call it pretty normal. It is just in a spot where you can see it... Run it til she wont run no more....

Does she burn a lot of oil? Betting not...

put an oil seperator on the hose that goes from the valve cover to the intake. i put em on all my cars, keeps those pesky oil fumes out of your intake.

Im going to check the compression tomorrow and the pcv valve. Dont think its normal to have that much oil in there. It was almost a full drop on the bottom of the throttle blade when i first looked. It dosent burn much, maybe i top it off once before its time to change. It does have 340hrs.
