    Press Release

From: George Striegel and Chris Straub

    October 8, 2012

Clay Smith Engineering announces major product line expansion

George "Honker" Striegel, CEO of Clay Smith Cams, has formed a performance alliance with Chris Straub of Straub Technologies. The two companies will combine efforts to produce a quality driven product line for the performance consumer that will be distributed through traditional channels. Striegel states, "In my fifty years of involvement in the high performance community I have always provided my customers with the highest quality performance parts. Combining the Clay Smith brand and Straub Technologies' production resources and knowledge of horsepower building components makes a lot of sense. We will launch a complete performance line with the emphasis on quality made USA parts that make competitive power under the Clay Smith name.”
Chris Straub states “We are excited to have the opportunity to expand the offerings of the famous Clay Smith line. With its 82 year heritage of performance and quality, the Clay Smith brand will be an ideal platform for expansion. Having specialized in valve train and performance components the past seventeen years we look forward to expand into other product areas and distribution channels.”

George “Honker” Striegel has been a staple in the Motorsports industry for over 50 years, a highly recognized and respected innovator of high-performance engineering. His Camshaft and Engine combinations have set countless land, water, and speed records all over the world in numerous competitive Motorsports classes and fields.
George has enhanced the already proud and respected reputation of Clay Smith Cams with the performance of his craft, but also with his truly American values of the "Family-Ran Business”. Clay Smith Cams has been in the automotive performance industry since its founder, the legendary Clay Smith started the business is 1931 in Long Beach, CA. Smith’s life was cut much too short due to a racing accident in 1954, leaving Smith’s widow Ruth-Ellen owning the company with friends and family for ten years, before losing her second husband, ‘Red’ Wilson to a racing accident in 1964. Soon after Ruth-Ellen sold the business to Striegel, a regular and sponsored driver in the Clay Smith Cams camp, and the rest is racing history. Clay Smith Cams

Straub Technologies founder Chris Straub has been in the performance industry since 1988. His love of fast cars started early working in a performance machine shop honing his engine building skills while attending Western Kentucky University. Focusing on product development in valve train, Chris has worked for several companies in the industry developing product lines. His passion for camshafts started while working with John Reed and Bob Christopher in the early 90’s. His camshaft “hobby” developed into quite an industry following earing him respect from many engine builders and race teams for the power that his custom profiles produce. After honing his skills with product development with a few companies, he set out on his own in 2006 to provide components to some of the industry’s top companies. His focus and determination to produce in the USA has made the company a preferred vendor too many in the industry. Welcome to Straub Technologies. . .The Source of Performance.

This sounds like a great merger! George ground a really nice solid roller for my car when I was in high school. I look forward to doing business with George and Chris on my next project.

Just curious as to the extent of the partnership? Are you going to market Smith products? How do they feel about you using Morell, GS, Bullet, ect? Just for the record I have used both Straub and Smith products and had nothing but goodthings come of them.
