Now you'll have to find an antique launch controller for it.

I posted this just for the jokes and you guys did not let me dowm. SFI flywheels, hilarious... antique launch controller... still laughing.
As for 4 or 6 cycle... beats me. I can barely figure out what a four stroke is.
It is hit and miss with the hold the valve open thing. (to regulate rpm)

No magneto. Not even the guys 100+ years ago ran that junk.
It has a "buzz box". Basically a coil. There are 2 sets of points. Also controled by a gov. When the rpm fall, the points close and fire the cyls as needed. RPM's come up points move away from the contacts, no fire.
I will take some more pics when it gets back here. It is sitting in a buddys barn cause I have to make room.

If you enlarge the pic you can see the gov "balls" at about 2 and 8 oclock. The balls fly out with rpm, this takes the points away from the contacts. RPM slows, balls go back in.. making contact.
The old govs on steam engines were balls also. Actually round. When a gov stuck the rpms would increase, centrifical force would launch the balls off, engine would run away. Hence "balls to the wall" for a run away engine. or "its running balls to the wall"
    See what you learn.

Nice find, I think it is good that people keep these old engines around and it shows how advanced the technology was for its day.

Have you been up to the tractor museum in vista? My friend’s dad has few of these that he takes up there and sets them up to display. There is always a few for sale also if you are looking for one.
