    Default Almost Done

    Hey guys,
Happy Holidays.......I'm finishing up some upgrades to my ZZ4 350 motor for the S-10....... Before I put the valve covers on "to which I had to modify" to use with roller rockers, was told they would fit...... Anyway, Comp Cam said for this roller cam, " 1/2 turn after pushrod slack (Hyd Roller) taken up"....as I said covers are off, nows the time to do it over if you guys think I should do a another 1/2. I've turned the engine over a few times while installing the Distributor....they do seem loose...but all of them, about the same amount of loose......Thanks guys PS, Air Gap Intake Manifold Access "Edelbrock" suck, My carb covers the port.......Had to drill and tap new locations.......PCV, Trans Mod vacuum.......

i would use a dial indicator and measure how much travel the hydraulic lifter has, i think there about .125" then count how many turns to center the lifter travel, in that case would be .0625, the goal is to center the lifter cushion.

someone correct me if im wrong

They seem loose (assuming you mean the rocker arms), or they ARE loose?

When the lifter is on the base circle and not...uhh... lifting... there will be very little pressure, actually only the little spring inside the lifter providing pressure on the arms. If you can wiggle them a bit it's no worry. If you can feel that there's play (up and down) in the push rod between the lifter and the rocker... then yes they're loose. If that's the case, start over, don't just turn 'em in another half.

ok thanks...... Yes their loose when valves are closed......no up and down on the p-rods.....I'll assume they'll pump up some too when their filled with oil........ Funny too....... I can push against the plunger too on some...... That's prolly what got me thinking they were loose.......
