I don't remember exactly, but I think the Dukati Desmo system was my inspiration. I tried to think of a way to integrate it into a Small Block Chevrolet, in a way that it could be added to stock/aftermarket heads with minimal machining. The part I really thought was genius is the closing cam spins strictly through the valve opening actuation. I haven't ever taken the time to evaluate if the cam sequence would actually allow it to work that way, but I thought it would be cool if you could bolt this on and not have to run belts/chains up to the closing cams.
It's three cams, actually. One in the stock location to open the valves, one over each head to close them.
