    I'm wondering if adding a second water supply line opposite of the one on my Dominator can cause cavitation ?

    thats the recomended way to run an intercooler,thats what mpd and dne told me to do more than enough water no reason it would cavatet

    you could install a vdrive type pick up on the rideplate to feed the cooler if you're runnin a pressure bypass valve on your pump outlet to the motor, you could always run that cold water thru the cooler also

    thats what I did on my old boat, except it was an American turbine.

    Ron at AT told me that that was the correct way of doing it.

    My friends jet is ran into the cooler, out of the cooler and into the engine, out of the engine and dumped into the exhaust, very clean looking setup, but i was always told to run the cooler on a seperate in and out.

    Thanks for the responses guys. That was the way I did mine; I added a water supply port opposite the original one and installed a pressure relief valve.

    I had some cavatation the first time out, but changed my loader as well. I was wondering if the added hole in the pump could cause cavatation like a loose wear ring ? Now I'm leaning more towards the new loader, and have since cut it back to more closely resemble my old loader (w/o the 3" cracks). There was quite a difference, I hope that was the trouble. This boat had an impressive hole shot for a 21' and I want to keep it that way.

    I had considered that, but that would of been another hole in the hull, and I think I've got too many now. 3 bildge dumps on the drivers side, and 1 larger dump for the chiller/engine in the center of the transome. I just didn't want to add another hole.

    I have 2 water supplies on mine. 1 for the cooler and one for the motor and exhaust. both off the pump and I have had no cavitation issues.

    If I understand you correctly a 2nd water supply line would be from the pressure side of the impeller so cavitation would not be a factor.

    I ran the motor and the intercooler both off the original single water pressure fitting and that was too much pressure still.
    I had a bypass and restricted the fitting to decrease the flow and pressure.
    Still showed 50# at WOT.

    I machined a port and welded a -12AN fitting to the opposite side of the pump from the engine water port. I regulated the water pressure @30psi going to the cooler. TBS said they are tested to 100 psi. I have raced with this setup for 4 years with no issues. The ports are on the pressure side , no cavitation issues. Have fun, Jim

    Default sand trap or filter for intercooler?

    Chris ,I was reading up on these chillers and they are saying the number one reason for failure is sand clogging the intercooler and bursting. Leading to a engine full of water?? Got me thinking?? I really dont want that to happen and we run our boats in some very sandy water over at Moses and the Columbia. Anyone run a sand trap or filter for there intercooler? Or has anyone had one fail due too sand?
