    Default New SBC combo

Well, here it is. Just a couple little finishing touches and it will be ready for the Dyno on Friday morning. Hopefully it does not spill its guts.

Come on Dave! Everybody knows that a small block powered jet cannot be fast.... How is the ice down there? We still have 30 plus inches up here!

    NICE!
I can see you haven't been paying attention around here.
You are aware that any high school kid with a single 4bbl LS will whip your ass, specially in a jet. The only small block that will work in a jet is a LS. You're going to fuel up you oil with that injection, it will never idle, your fuel milage will suck and you will horrible throttle resolution. You're going to hate that thing. So you might as well sell it to me cheap while I still want it and offering.

How much boost you planning on and how big is the engine?

    GOOD LUCK on the dyno!!!

Its 400ci. The blower is a 671 delta littlefield. I am spinning it 21 percent over on methanol. Should be interesting anyway!

Oh yeah, you're going to be taking oil with you just to change it between runs. Look at the size of that hat!!!! You'll never be able to control that sprinkler system. But don't feel badly, no tuner can. They simply don't exist. Only a electron techie can save you.

    Who made the hat.

I was just curious about the boost because of the snout on SBCs. I see you have a support, but that nose is still the limiting factor to how much blower you can turn. 21% on a 6 isn't too bad.

I am not concerned about the crank. It is a nice piece, with a BBC snout, plus the crank support.

As far as milking the oil, I am not too worried about that. I hired a pretty good fuel tune guy. We should have it fairly close right out of the gate. The hat is a Enderle Buzzard catcher. It is probably a little on the big size for the engine, but has been tuned accordingly. I guess the biggest problem is that it is going to have a terrible blower surge at idle.

EXCELLENT! Who's crank are you using using?

I was kidding about the oil. Seems to a common miscomception around here that you can't run MFI on meth without washing down the oil. Looking forward to the results!!

Well, the dyno session did not go all that well... I guess.

We hooked it up to the dyno and got it running Friday monring. We ran it at idle for about three or four minutes to put some heat into it so we could go through the valve lash. We pulled the rocker covers and Lance immediately discovered that some of the pushrods were rubbing pretty good on the cylinder heads. The heads are now off of it and he is cutting the heads to clear the 3/8 pushrods. I am not sure when we are going to try to spin it again, I would guess in the next week or so. I have to wait to hear from Lance.

Good news is that we found the rubbing. There were a couple that were rubbing pretty hard, I am guessing if we made a pull that it would have spit a couple pushrods and probably made some kind of a mess. I will keep everybody updated.

Yeah, 3/8 PRs can be a problem in SBCs, but they are the right thing to do. Sorry to hear this. Looking foward to your results.
Thanks for the crank info. Lunati has a BBC snout crank they sell for blower apps, but only is a couple strokes.
