    Default blower help

thinking about replacing m tired 8-71 Hampton with a newer 6-71 that I can use for free to see if I like it. but not sure if it will bolt up the bottom has the pie shape and the top opening is partially blocked and my injection (hillborn 4 hole) looks like it will hit the blocked section. is there a way to run it with my manifold and injection?

It won't work with your injector. The rear hole will be completely blocked. You could mount the injector to a loader, but what that thing really whats is a loader and hat like slowboy's setup. The loader would allow you to use the blower but it won't help load the blower like it does with a hat.

whats the deal with the small opening on the bottom below the front gear cover? that wont work on a regular blower manifold will it ? im sure I can get this thing real cheap and it looks like its in great shape maybe I will pick it up and do some trading to get what I need to get my Hampton up to par.

Yeah it will work On a standard manifold. Its just a delta opening. Its makes the blower compress air inside the blower more than a standard roots. But it works just fine on a regular manifold.

well Im actually talking about the 2x4 opening at the other end. I don't recall my Hampton having that opening under the front of the blower . and there are 2 holes at the top of the back that look like they are for a nozzle or some thing like that? thanks for all your help!!!

    Default blower help

Hi Smokinjoe, you will need a setback plate of 1.5 -2" between manifold and blower to get that forward discharge area inside manifold, and to use small opening top with standard hat requires a adapter, both widely available .

Would it hurt anything if that forward discharge was blocked? I have a 1071 with the 6X case, but never seen that front opening like that.

He isn't looking to use a hat, he wants to use a vertical 4 hole. I MIGHT work with the adaptor, but I have doubts how well the rear throttle bore will flow. Not the best blower for vertical 4 hole.

Yes you can block off the front port.

solved the top opening problem. but not sure what to do about the bottom with that small opening in front it wont seal on my manifold. cant really move it back without hitting the distributor. a thin plate might work to block it off. if a person were to buy this blower from the manufacturer would they also have to buy a manifold to match it ? do these blowers really work better then the standard 671 case?

yes they work better than standard 6-71s. They are primarily used in Nostagia Fuel cars that are restricted to 6-71 cases. When used the blower sits back or you have to use something like this, or like you said, simply block it off with a plate.
They work, but a retro 8-71 probably flows more air. When you have rules and resrtictions you invent.

You should probably be thinking about a mag. Its not the boost, its the fuel.
Your shoving quite a load in there, and the stuff is more conductive than gasoline, and snuffs spark. The stuff needs amperage, and a MSD battery ignition can't deliever that.
