cam feed back on blower mtr

    Default cam feed back on blower mtr

    im running a 496 14-71 blower with chiller i need some feed back on this cam,is it right ,will it work,i dont no 4 my aplication,it ran in a 19 daytona,like a cheeta on steriods, herbert cam , lift-.698-int ,700 ex, duration advertised, 304-int ,313 ex, duration @ .050 269-int ,275 ex, valve lash, .025-int ,.025 ex, center line 106, the lobe center,112, heads r eddle brock performer rpm marine heads. any feed back will be great

    u need to get ahold of cstraub69 on the boards...he grinds cams for all applications & can help u...i personally think the 14-71 is a little over-kill!!...i'm building a blown 496 & am gonna run a Mega 420 with a chiller & Holley 450cfm carbs...not set on the cam yet, but will prob run 1 that will give me low end torque & mid range power...its going in a '73/76 Kona 18' with Berk jet etc...just my .02 cents

    what did chet say ?

    112 is too tight.

    116 is better.

    Blower cam, no need for advance, huffer will stuff it in there, needs to be 112 straight up. Ebrock heads need more exhaust crutch then what you have there. . .about 14 to 16 degree of split at .050. I'd say present cam is smothering engine because not enough duration to evac exahaust.
