    Default Puke Tank Question

Hey guys I've got a question about my puke tank. I've been lookin around for the AN fitting that will go in the valve cover that will clear the stud girdle and I was wonting to run -12 lines from the valve cover to the tank. I'd like to put a breather cap in the front hole of the 1 valve cover and drill a new hole in the back and run the line from there. Yal see any problem with this. It's a N/A BBC in a drag boat. Thanks

Thinks GN .. Would I have any problems running both lines off the top/back of the Valve cover ?? And usually how much space do you have between the valve cover and stud girdle ??

No. It looks like you have a breather on one cover at the rear now. Tninking of replacing that with one of the AN fittings?
You can also intall them on the back ends of the covers

Ya GN, I don't have evac tubes in my headers and due to Lucas rules oyu have to run sum type of catch can/ puke tank .. So I was lookin for a fitting that would fit .. Jegs has a nice 1 but they can ansewer me if it will clear the girdle .. I was wonting to just put a breather or a oil cap in the hole on the valve cover and just drill a hole in the back for the fitting and run that to my puke tank .. I figured it would make it easier if I have to add oil or change the oil .. I just soon run the evac system but according to the rules you cant ..

I think he want to leave the existing breather hole as a way to add oil if needed. The only things in my VCs is the burn downs and its a PIA to add oil.

What you need to do is put a plug in the one breather hole so you can add oil there. Then a hose from each valve cover to the puke tank. The puke tank is the venting for the engine. Or you can get a pan evac kit from Summit or Jegs. They have oil separating breathers on them that fit in the holes you have in your valve covers. And yes the pan evac will pass at Lucas. I ran mine last year. For me, the pan evac worked better than the puke tank. The puke tank still had oil seeping out of engine. With the pan evac, I pulled 5 inches vacuum using only one tube on each side of my zoomies and no more oil leaks.......Tim

Ya I got the 1.25 holes already. I was just wonting to add a hole in the top/back of the valve cover( pretty close to where the hole is on the passenger side) for the AN fitting.

My headers are new and freshly coated. I don't wont to add the evac tubes to them. I would rather run the evac system but just not set up that way for now.

mike, if you're just venting the crankcase to the puke tank, I don't know why you need 2 hoses. and I really don't know why you'd need -12either. it's not like you're running a vacuum pump, or that the crankcase is going to be seriously pressurized. you could run one 1/2" piece of clear plastic tube from a breather to a puke tank and never see anything going through it as long as the engine's half tight. even if you're running a vacuum pump, you don't need any more than one -12 hose. it's not like you're running some ba deal that's going to puke itself half the time. for what you have, one -12 is way overkill. 2 -12 to a puke tank is beyond overkill...

Or just run these in the breather holes and run line to the puke tank.
