Cool Thinking about 16 volt system

I've been thinking about going 16 volt for awhile, I know my starter will like it, also my msd...I know I need to change Batt. and Alt.
being this is a lake deal...my question's are...will it damage Elec. fuel pump..Elec. fuel-tank selector..fuel tank float senders..?
    Or am I just over-thinking stuff..Thanks

If you change out the alternator, then just get a 3 post 16 volt battery to handle the 12 volt stuff.

Screw lead acid or NiCd batteries. Go big or go home.

Ask Boeing how those Lithium batteries worked out.

No no no! Didn't mean to get you all excited

some people run the 3 post batteries, and only have the alternator charge it to maintain the 12volt cells, and only use the full 16 part of the battery to start the boat. Doesn't take much battery capacity to do that for a few starts a day when racing. Then put the battery on a 16 volt plug in charger to recharge it for the next day. Some use a 16-24 just to start, use a magneto and no alternator.

But YOU would need to run an alternator.
BTW, MSD don't care about 16V. They have an internal regulator that regulates in down any way. Now a HEI?? , Thats a whole other story. They thrive on 16V. MSDs don't make one ounce more power.

I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure you can replace the voltage regulator in your existing alternator with a 16 volt regulator for less than $50... along with a 3 post battery, should give you 12 and 16 volts where you need/want it. Not a huge savings, but $150 is a hundred fifty bucks.

    Food for thought.
