Default 454 carbureted vs fuel injected

Looking at a couple of placecraft 22' deck boats. Is one of these motor signifinately better than the other? They are both out drives. Or should I hold out for a 496? Thanks

Depends on the model of each motor....MOST of the fuel injected (MPI) 454's are MAG motors, so they are better then then standard 330hp carb 454. There is a "310" HP MPI 454, but it still has Vortec heads, and is a much better motor then the carb 330 peanut port motors.

If you are FAMILY boating with it......you'll want EFI. If you dont mind wrenching on the motor from time to time at the lake when you need a jet change or something holds a float open, you CAN go carbureted.

Also, if you boat at different lakes of different altitudes, you'll want the EFI. It will fuel itself accordingly / automatically.
