    Default 2400+hp 509cid

Those Big Dart 380's seem to be working pretty good on that 509. Some would say that they are way to big.

Some say you don't need them and a set of peanut ports is all you need. After all, its under pressure.

Bet he could have made 2500 if he had a knob.

Check out the boost curve that blower puts out.

Thats what I hate about centrifs. Purely dependent on engine RPM. The only thing I would consider installing a centrif on is a I/O. Perfect to help from blowing the outdrive to hell, but you need a sundial to time the torque build. At least a turbo spools from load. Unless your only interested in top speed, the worse possible means of boost. But damn are they efficient.

Yes but that is how they make all that power without driving over the crank. With the roots, what it is , is what it is, across the board. With the centr. you can have a boost "curve" so it can have that 40psi in the upper rpm range yet maybe only 20psi or so down low. Besides, 1275ftlb @ 5000rpms is pretty stout as far as I'm concerned and would be a challenge for anything but the best of outdrives.

Thats what I am saying. They are a match made in heaven for an outdrive. Seem to be a pretty good match for big HP jets as well to keep from cavitating the pump on low boat speeds. Seems perfect for a setup where power can be delievered as you can use it.
Limited tire classes are owned by those things.

Like a said before, I had access to those things as a kid. Worse towing vehicle blower ever invented. Towing a loaded trailer up a steep grade. It would make plenty of boost in lower gears and out run the gear. Shift it and the boost went to shit, and it never recovered.

They have their place. The dyno room seems to be the perfect place for them.

I dont know about that. John D's boat seems to be making a pretty good show with one.(and a carb)

I know, I know, you also said they make a "pretty good" match for high hp jets.

Like having a NOS system that ramps up with RPM.

Campared to a roots that hits full boost in one engine revolution.
