    Default Starter

    Hangs

Put the rehabbed starter back in, hangs but sounds like starter motor is spinning.
Did I shear a gear in the starter?
Was supposed to have been set up exactly the way it was before as there's no way to check clearance without pulling motor. Shim it until it stops hanging and hope for the best?
Unless someone knows a little teeny tiny critter that can stand in the bilge with a feeler gauge.

Starter tries to engage and makes ugly noises? Or just spins?
If you think teeth are missing from the flywheel rotate the motor slightly using the h-balancer bolt and breaker bar.

Starter motor rarely sets up with gears to deep.
When they do the starter won't disengage from the flywheel when the key is released.

I did have a starter motor i did where the armature just spun on the shaft.
