Default Never heard a thing ?

The Owner of this engine says it started missing then he "shut it right off" ... any opinions from you gearheads as to how/if one exaust valve seat that came loose can cause this much havoc in a supposed "split second" , these are two of 4 affected pistons (shared plenum/runners) my expirience has been that a loose valve seat will rattle and cause a miss before creating a massive catastrophic failure Tom

Well you figure if the seat broke apart into numerous pieces, and the pistons are coming to the top of the bore 83 times a second at 5000, it doesn't take long. We lost an entire exhaust valve head and it visited 4 cylinders before he shut it down, and it wasn't in each hole for just one stroke!!!!

I'd rather kick a rod at 7500 than loose an valve head at 7500 anyday.

I am kind of surprised that most of it didn't just fly out the exhaust right off. A exhaust head is a little different. There is no way out of the engine.

I've seen way worse from 4.7 dodge seats that fall out after the engine is over heated and the fools drive it home.completly destroys the piston.

Sure would like to see the related head. also the side of the pistons. Kinda looks like some ring material mixed in?

yeah the heads may not be the best castings, price reflects it, however is not aluminum, is the guides, valves, etc that is SHITTY.

you can take Pro Comps, port them, assemble them with good hardware and they will be fine, with exceptions of course, but for a mild motor they work.

They are still made of recycled beer cans, alum wheels and whatever else is laying around. No way to know the alloy, or the head treat. They are warm butter soft compared to any American head.

no argument there, i cant say i would never buy a set, but i would NEVER even consider them on a high HP or quality mill, if i was budget building some BS for messing around...maybe

X2 i bought a bare set, had a good machine shop hone the guides, checks and cut the seats and ferrea ss valves i got for em, used comp springs/retainers/locks, dart adjustable guideplates and long arp studs and never had a issue and hit that 13 to 1 505 with a 2stage for total of 500hp shot at times.alter ego still runnin that same engine in his mew gwing after a freshen up.motor was built back in 2007 been raced by me alot on alot of nitrous and josh had it on a track alot since he has had it.for the amount of nitrous that engine has consumed over the yrs the heads have never been an issue as far as i know.bottom of the barrel alum heads sure but lighter and better than stock iron 990's anyday.

tom is that a bbf? Maybe is missed it

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.
