Default Paging GN7-Scoop and oil pan question

Bob - I am build a Blown gas 750hp BBC for my Hallett and trying to not break the bank. I have an old Olson scoop any problem using it vs the normal Dooley / Bassett style? I have an old kickout flywheel forward (which is how the boat is getting setup) Oil pan, Photos below, Good or Bad and if Good I assume I run a stud mounted tray with it? Thanks for all of your sage advise, Tom

Olson scoop are fine. Kind of cool and different. As a forward facing scoop, I like it better than the Dooley/Basset. Backwards its pretty much makes no difference.
Not a fan of the Dooley, specially in a flywheel forward, specially with the T sump.
If you have it, put it on. Probably be fine for lake use. But I would keep my eye open for a Olson, or Armando
You don't have much choice on the windage tray. It pretty much has to be a stud mounted tray with the flywheel forward Dooley

The Dooley is not a "kickout" pan, it is a T sump pan. If you find a Olson or Armando 10 qt KICKOUT pan, it will control the oil much better than the Dooley. You don't need the extra 4 qt of the T sump, you need OIL CONTROL.

looks like a few mods were made to the pan already. They should be helpful.

    GOOD EYE SLEEPER!!
I didn't look at that pan that close, just read it was a Dooley.
I don't think its modified, I don't think its a Dooley, uless its an OLD one. Dooley's have a waffle pattern bottom, and they use a stock type dip stick, not a screw in type.

Like to see a side shot of that pan.

    It is NOT a Milodon!!

Pan is same as my Milidon except for mine doesn't have side scraper, pickup is reinforced.....no windage tray and no oil pressure issues except for running in rough water that i shouldn't be running in anyway. I have Olson copy and i like it lots better than dooley shoe box...no air filters facing backwards....with the amount of water mine kicks up facing forward the motor might last a day. For some reason the pan used to push oil up dipstick tube...i run a rubber plug now.

Its not an Armando or Aviad.

It might be a Milodon. I'd clean it up and run it,
