Default problem with motor in jet boat

okay boat motor started running like crap, then it got really hard to start, then it wouldn't start. motor is a IV bbc 468, 10.5 -1 tunnel ram two 750 dp, 590 lift cam, msd dizzy with 6al box, I have a spare box and distributor cap , and I figured out that one of my 6al's were bad, so now the boat fires up , but immediately dies, fuel bowls are full cause I can see the sight glasses I have enough fuel pressure, and have spark at each plug, any clue what it may be? I checked the ground from the battery and actually moved it from the engine rail to the engine, the msd box is grounded to the battery also, any clue? sure would like to put it in the water.

You moved the ground for the battery......Is it cranking over properly? Or is it hard to start and runs poorly when it does?

did compression check all cylinders 150, distributor is moving, I had the cap off and put it to tdc to remove the dizzy to check with my spare if the dizzy was messed up,never have run ballast resistors, not sure on timing chain guess I can pull balancer off and open up and check, I removed the ground, starter is new and seems to turn over like usual, like I said it will start for about 5 seconds then die, and then I can walk over to carbs and pump it once and it start, and then die again, and pumping the throttle doesn't help it still dies., do you think my other msd is bad?

If you have a stock ignition set-up install it and recheck before you start pulling the engine apart!!!! No offense but I would work from the easy checks down! M

If you start this thing by turning a key that pops back to run position after it starts, like ol guy and Steve said, CHECK THE SWITCH.
If you just turn a key and push a button, or flip a switch and push a button, I doubt its the switch. If it has power when it started, the toggle switch should have power even after it starts.
But a regular key switch, like a car, its probably the switch.

If you already lost a MSD box, that switch probably killed it when it started running like shit. Turning off and on with every little bump. They don't like that at all.
