Hey guys spinning my 8.3 Whipple 20% faster than crack getting me 12psi. 600" motor inner cooler, open wett big tube headers, 720 soild cam, dart pro heads,Does that sound about right? How fast can u spin this blower? 30-40%?? Before it starts to be out of its map? And just starts making tons of heat?

12k max rotor speed is what the web site states. If the crank is spinning 7k you could drive the [email protected] 70%. That would give you a buffer on the slow side

Remember this is a screw blower not a roots type these blowers can be WAY over driven.

Sounds like a Badass motor. 👍👍

I have the same blowers on my Teague motors making pretty big HP on pump gas. In talking to Whipple I understand these blowers can support huge power on big CI motors. The screw blower creates very little heat regardless of boost/overdrive. I think you can crank up the blower as much as you want, only limit is the motor capabilities. If the motor can hold it that blower can deliver it. I know of 2 different occasions where friends unbolted 14:71 roots and bolted on a 5/8.3 litre and picked up over 100 HP on same boost level.

We picked up 200 hp same boost, but with a larger whipple in place of some 14's
lower inlet temp allowed a couple more lbs boost for a 250 hp gain fairly easy

Hello Skydog; I was just reading some of your posts & sounds like you have a similar setup, I recently purchased a Cougar TH with a Whipple charged 620" engine Merlin block, Dart pro 1 heads. When I purchased the boat there was supposedly a broken rocker, uppon inspection i found 3 detonated pistons. I tried to get the engine build info from the original owner but no luck so far. I am trying to educate myself on this engine & set up to correct the cause of the detonation as well as set it up properly for the next season. Did you build your engine or have a shop build it??
    Thanks for your help

Lol youre insane skydog! Diggin it !! Shit bud throw alil more to it see what 14lbs feels like watch the afr and leanest plug hole and throw another 15-20% more methanol into your mix.80/20 mix wld be pretty safe.is nordskog back in biz? They were making a nice cheap intake air temp gauge for awhile ive wanted.somehow i will put a iat gauge on my lil bt ls deal over winter, i wanna see what meth mix leaves the iat's the lowest at the valves.my intake has bosses for injectors and i already tapped it for a iat sensor.been thnkn of goin efi but i may wait a yr on that.wanna be tuning my pump n hull next spring not on the engine..

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

Hey man, is your motor carb or efi? Yea getting the set up that motor ate a few pistons would help for sure. Mine is carb and looooonnnnngggggg story short took motor scoop off because I added a innercooler and would not fit. Well my carbs have zero wind break and gets killed by wind. It pulled fuel out of carbs and leaned motor out and u know the rest. One thing I am mad at myself is not having a wide band o2 from day one!! Would have caught this years back. I have allways run wide bands from turbo sleds to turbo cars. It is a MUST HAVE GAUGE!!! Now I have her right on about 11.5 or so. I added meth for same reasons, ran for years on turbo sled and cars with unreal results!! :-) :-) And both are so cheap to add HUGE PROTECTION!! And power!! :-):-):-) Set up now...32timming locked about 12-13psi boost meth turns on about 8psi. 93 octane Boat is just scary fast now love it!!! Keep in touch... love to help u with set up.

Thank u Skydog. Ps I live in north il so boat is up, just putting some nos on my dd today. Lolol

Right on buddy I might just do that, I want to see what I can run with this setup. I sadly never did this year and got my new 36" Bblades too. Just ran out of time (set up and found had a junk prop) and for the first time with this boat I put her away is one! :-) And boy does that feel good!! Good luck man with everything u do!!!

    Thank u Skydog.
