Default Holley 750 double pumper squirter ?'s

I just recently installed a Weiand tunnel ram on my 454. Everything went together just nicely and after a simple few tweaks and some adjusting to the timing I was running just like before the old stuff was removed. I took it out to run and see how it performed and had some issues I do believe to squirter's being on the small side. I am running a single carb tunnel ram set up. When I used to go full throttle right out off the line it would take off like a rocket, get on plane and stay strong wide open with no hesitation with the Edelbrock Performer 2.0 set up that was on it.

Now when I stand on it it hiccups and coughs for a sec and as I back off it smooths out and runs consistent at 3/4 throttle but as I go to the floor it almost wants to die. I don't know Holleys that well but from what I have been told and what I read it need to increase the squirter sizes in increments of 3 according to Holley. I don't know what currently is in there now and haven't even begun to look into it. Is my assumptions correct on what I'm describing and assuming could be the culprit here? Any advise is greatly apprectiated!

    Default Single Carb'd T'Ram

With that many cubes and ALL that plenum under that carb, Tuning this out will be less than rewarding with a single carb, Might be able to add a bigger squirter and jets but probably be Pig rich, search other forums you might find somebody that makes this work. Better yet, get a new top and additional carb, better chance of working a lot better and better "eye candy" could also to big of a cam. What T'ram is it?

Squirter size is for how long it takes to get the fuel in the motor. T/R should need more volume and sooner. Will it take WOT after it's revved up? If it will it just needs more fuel sooner. Fuel volume is pump cam/size of the pump. The holes in the squirts are in thousands of an inch. ... Yours could be as small as .025...mine are drilled to .065...It's done squirting before half throttle Ace hardware has wire drills.
If test drives are a pia it might be a good idea to find someone who can hit the setup first try.Might need bigger pump/different pump cams. If you like to learn, i would drill the squirts .010 and see what happens....after you make sure the carbs are clean, the floats are set and it has proper fuel pressure at all times.

If he's mashing this thing at 3/4 throttle and it hesitates for more than a micro second before it hits, its NOT the accelerator pumps.

I for one have Never seen a tunnel-ram single top work...you would be better off with an eddy air-gap or dual carbs
    just my opinoin

you are right their are better options but I have ran single top tunnels. It takes alot of carb savvy and patience with test and tune. BUT again their are alot better options out their!

I looked into the carb yesterday and determined the squirter size to be .31. Talked with Holley and they recomended me going up to a .35. I guess I will try that first and see. Eventually I will run a dual carb setup once I go further into the engine with all the mods I'd like to have done. For now I'd like to work the minimal quirks out.

Bigger squirts will cover a bog going from low rpm to instant WOT although .031 to .035 isn't much of change...Hesitation from 3/4 throttle is a different deal, once the carbs are pulling from the boosters the little squirt from the pump is nothing...Mine will go wot from a little less that half throttle and the acc pumps are done by then..might be a good idea to make sure the carb is clean, float level properly set and fuel pressure is right.
I have neighbor with a 455 olds t/r and 750 dp and i think i drilled the squirts to .045 last time...he said it was really close.

First off I would toss the .35 squirters for a .37 and check the secondary jetting and the fuel pressure. Without knowing the jet pack in the secondary block the rest is precision guess work! M

    Thumbs up

So it turns out that when I installed the MSD pro billet ready to run distributor I forget to swap the bigger silver springs out with the smaller ones. This was causing my WOT issue. Once the smaller springs were swapped prob solved. Now I'm gettting the ignition I need. I did go to the .37 nozzle and it runs just as good as it did before the upgrades. Thanks everyone for the info
