    Default Name that cam

I have a broken inner valve spring on my cousins 350 SBC. I sent the heads off to a machine shop to get new springs put in.

at the request of the guy putting new springs in, i had to pull out the cam to get some numbers off of it.....he said the springs in there were for a large performance cam and he wanted to make sure they were the right ones for the cam.....well, there aint shit for numbers and you cant read the stamped ones at all.....any ideas?

That is a Camshaft Machine core (CWC) ground by EPC. PM or e-mail me all the numbers and I will go through EP's catalog and see if I can find it.

thanks for chiming in chris....From what I understand after a quick googling..(i know, i should have googled before i posted)..the cast numbers between the lobes only define the core....its the stamped numbers on the end that define the grind....and the stamping is very poor so they are impossible to decrypt.

so even though we cant read the stamping, can we still determine what cam this is by the cast numbers? or am i going to have to take it somewhere to get it measured?

some other threads i found with people who have the same cast numbers that are trying to identify the cam.

    Brad that sucks.

Can you take a piece of paper and a pencil and put the paper on the numbers and rub the pencil over it and see if it picks up the numbers ?

    It's worth a try.

If you lived closer I'd take it to Crower for you and get you a new cam card in about 5 minutes. That machine is just bitchen.

Put a dial indicator on it.

I did that 25 yrs ago on the cam for my 427 MR to get the lobe lift.
