    Default Cams for SE

    I was going through some catalogs with my guru buddy looking for legal cams for SE and he came to the same conclusion I did- there is not much out there off the shelf. I figured I'd have to pop for a custom grind, but Mike said I should ask around first, what with everybody being boat people and all. Anybody willing to reveal where they scored their cam?

    You aren't going to find too many looking in the marine section of the catalog. As crazy as this may seem, boats don't really need a "marine cam"

    GN7, the cam whisperer... I believe it!

    We just pulled out the Crower catalog and one from Comp Cams, and were hard pressed to find anything under .450 lift, performance or otherwise. A couple of low-rev hydraulics, but that was about it. I figured that Grich had a cam in mind when he made the rules- I just haven't been able to find it

    I got a few tips by PM already, thanks for those!

    Edit: looks like Summitracing.com actually has quite a few circle track cams at this lift- they are just all hydraulic and I think I was looking only for mechanical the first time through. Problem solved, I think!

    I thought you just opened the catalog to the page with your engine listed, pick the cam at the bottom of the page.... JK, for a SE motor you really don't want a full race cam. I'd suggest a 3/4 race cam...

    Give CStraub a call if a custom will fit your bill. He does a lot of limited-lift stuff for circle track. You'll need flow numbers. 423 391 7774

    .410 and .450 lift are 2 of the most popular lift limits in dirt track.

    there are tons of cams like bob said, small block chevys have been around forever there are more cam grinds for that engine than any other is my guess
    I think they made this class cause people know how to build domestic smallblocks that can run good for little money but I may be wrong
