    Default V Drive Cam

I'm rebuilding a 468 BBC, JE 8.5:1, Steel Retangular port Chevy heads, Ported, 119cc. 6-71 Mooneyham @ 15% over (no cooler). It can spin 7500 max. ( And I doubt it would ever see that....) Thinking solid roller (thats what was in it)

This is a for fun lake boat. (19' Sanger Flatty) No "organized" racing.

    Any Sugestions? Fire Away! Thanks

I have about the same set up, 15 over on the blower/ same boat, I run 32 gears, solid flat tappet reed cam, twin 750' carbs, Depending on the day, will twist between 62 to 6500.............. leaves extreemly hard pulls all the way up, thinking of changing to 29 gears, starts to porpose a little on the big end, have to feather the plate and gas to get it to rpm out............ doesn't seem to have enough hp on the big end,,,,,,,,,,, I'm thinking the 29's will really dial it in............... gets great fuel economy and will no wake for hours and never miss a beat............. so I'm leaving the engine combo alone............more pic's in profile.

well first of all 15% aint much, with this being said the if the boat spins 6k i would go much more and i think it'll turn six, might want to look for an 8-71 but let's work with what you got. Thinking around 600 lift cam you might want to consider a hydrolic roller they work very well with the little blowers and the boat requires less maintaince meaning a lake boat more fun, but a badass sanger at that.

Thanks for the replys. The boat had 29% over... but it broke, so I figured I'd save some money on fuel and back it down to 15%. My goal is to make 850-900 hp on the cheapest fuel possible, and keep valve springs in it for more than a weekend.

The boat has 32's in it now, and I have a 477 in it at the moment that makes around 800hp. (not blown). I have not had it past 4800 yet but it has a ton of throttle left. I havent had the stones to push it past that point yet

So any specifics on cam profiles?

    Thanks!

The heads are ported..Basicly gasket matched. It also has (2) 850's on it.

Any profile sugestions? I'm new to the blower scene.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
Bigger carbs... you get boost sooner, and more of it. With big carbs, you boost needle will move like your speedometer

    Thanks,
I'd need the flow numbers off the heads since they have been "touched" to be able to figure a cam.

Cam................. Shoot between .600 and .700 lift keeps it healty and still it works well with a blower for use besides the race scene. I tell you what .832 moves alot of air . 110 lobe center for you.
