It's not that they are junk it's what it takes to make them work for you. If out of the box is good enough, so be it.

funny you should say that, becuase i had my crank and rods checked when i got em. 1 of the most well respected race engine shops in my area did the balance work(self racing) and said the crank was great, it balanced easy, rods were very close together in weight(within 1 gram), no tight rod ends, no tight big ends. when i put it together, clearences were nice, and its zingged 8k a few times on nitrous and pump reloaded, if the crank was ***** that would've done it in

What we now see in our market from China when it comes to rods and cranks has been over a 2 decade process. Without naming names some well known performance companies were in China in the early to mid '80's developing rods. Crankshafts came about in a descussion among parties and they started development in China in the late 80's. Some business relationships went south and sample parts of rods and cranks wound up in a few Chinese factories. This brought about multiple players. . .some with solid engineering behind the product some not.

Fast forward to now. The cranks and rods come out of a number of plants, I have heard anywhere from 4 to 12 factories. It is hard to know how many because a plant might be IN CHIN Concrete, but they have a foundary because at one time they made concrete mixer parts. Anyhow they have had 20 some odd years to get the rods right and just about that with cranks. The stuff in the last 10 years in valvetrain and now the latest in cylinder heads, and electronics will have some issues. Also PAYMENT has a lot to do with it. Those in banking understand better then I but the Chinese don't get paid until that container is full. Once full they pull their money out of the account. Who cares if 20% of the order is defective. . . they will "take care of you next time".

My advice is to budget your build and go with proven product lines. The Scats and the Eagles have their place for a segment of the performance market as does the Bryants and Lentz's. Mic everything wether it is a 1000 set of rods or a $250 set of rods and at the end of day enjoy our sport.

I don't care if they're junk or not. If they're made in China, then that is that many more American workers who were put out of a job because their company moved to China. Fuck the Chinese!!!

Help the economy, buy American Made!!!!!!

You have to have a ton of imported goods in your house, we all do. For example, your PC. Now if you're in agreement that you do have other foreign products in your home then you're just a hypocrite, but that's OK because Jesus Christ said we are all born hypocrites. It's common business practice to undersell the competition and one way to do that is to have the product made where it will be cheaper to make. I still say the way to bring all Americans to buy American is to tax the livin' sh!t out of all foreign goods.

I agree with the import tax!!! I like that idea a lot!! yes we all have imported goods in our homes. We don't really have a choice on some products (i.e. electronics) but we do have a choice on such things as engine parts. Buy American!

Well, when no computers or computer components are made in America, that is a different story, that industry has almost been completely outsourced to other countries. There's not a lot of choice to buy American in that market. However, the automotive industry is much more diverse than the electronic industry, and there are many more options to choose from. And in the automotive parts industry, the Chinese parts are still complete crap in my opinion. And yes I have bought several procomp pieces for my engine in the past and they either didn't make it on the engine to begin with because they were complete crap and didn't fit, or they have been removed because they did not perform as expected. Now that my eyes have been opened on they're crap, I will no longer buy they're shit to further my build, instead my build is at a stand still, so that I can save my money, and build it right the first time and not have to worry about a single piece of it. Given the choice I will support America, or a country that doesn't have shaddy business practices, and pay their workers pennies on the dollar to make complete crap.
