We just got a warranty claim in on a what was once Brand New GM crate 502. The guy spun a couple bearings and we sent him a new engine. I now have the engine and can build it to what I want....It was the zz502/502HP. One thing that will be added for sure is the new unreleased F.A.S.T EZ EFI system, I already spoke to them and they are donating it for us to test

I was thinking of maybe just turning this into a 540 with a new Scat kit....re working and match porting the Edelbrock Performer RPM Heads with a Dart single plane, putting in a nice Solid Roller Cam etc...

Im looking to get 650-700HP, STREETABLE I think the only downfall is the damn Electric Fuel Pump I will have to use..

The Dart single plane will probably make the most hp, but c'mon you gotsta have dual carbs on at least a cheap tunnel ram to make a total statement................... !!!!!!!!

I think you're on the right track. 540, (Scat is good) 10.5:1, set of nice heads (I might go a different direction there) single plane Dart or Edelbrock, and a 1050 (or in your case the EFI). Definitely a custom roller to get the most out of it and a good kickout pan if room permits. 700hp very doable, IMO.

The electric pump problems I've had in the past were all with Holley pumps.
Since then I swore off all Holley products.

I have never had problems with Aeromotive electric pumps.
I have an Aeromotive street rod electric pump that I blocked the bypass off to make it produce 42 # of pressure to prime the EFI system. That's pretty abusive It only runs until the motor starts and then the cam driven Aeromotive pump takes over. It has worked fine for three years that way.

The ZZ502 heads are Oval Ports (coined Rovals ) 290cc intake runners and 110cc combustion chambers.

Good luck getting that much hp (700hp) with them - even with some re-work I don't really see it being that possible.

Be cheaper and more productive to sell them and get heads that will let you get close to your wanted power levels.

Or go cheap and repair what's broke and make an upgrade or to to get 550-600hp.

What are the thoughts from the guys in your engine shop ?

The ZZ502 heads have lots of meat on them, they can be opened up a bunch. I've got a set that have been opened up, to rectangle large port all the way to the pockets, flowing 395/292 with a 4.25 sleeve on a Superflow bench. The velocities in the runners are excellent, can't wait till next season to run them. The CC on the chamber is more like 114 cc rather than the claimed 110 cc. On edit...My intake valve were upped to 2.3 dia, from 2.25, the exhaust valves are inconel 1.88 dia.

Check this pump out, will put out 450gph and 150psi without the need for a return line, and great for efi.
I'm running one of the carb versions which puts out 50psi and I love it. It has enough press. and volume to handle the carbs and also my 325 shot of NOS that I run most of the time.
The pump will support 2500hp according to the manufacturer.
