    Default Splayed Cap Conversion-BBC

So, is a splayed cap conversion a good or bad idea? I know that the standard four bolt deal with straight vertical bolts is generally not thought of being terribly strong, but what about the splayed type? GM, Milidon, Eagle, Scat or who? Pros/Cons? -Help??????

In the case of a BBC the staight cap is fine. Most aftermarke blocks in BBC config are straight and capable of handling big HP requirements.

I used the milodon kit on a two bolt to four bolt coversion 650 hp application, never had any problems with them, if you're using stock caps you can only use certain stock caps, some don't have enough material for the outside bolts and you'll have to buy after markets.
Might as well just find a four bolt.

Yes, the HPrating on the straight cap 4 bolt is pretty hefty for most. The Milodon splayed 4-bolt coversion is a very $ machining process, but probably good if you are needing to run big HP/Torque blown, high piston speeds, etc. But in the 700 hp range, straight is certainly capable.

I kept the stock 4 bolt caps and went with a main stud girdle.

Agreed. I priced it out and am going with a Dart block.
