    Default fuel pressure gauge and belt drive pump question

    What's a good, reliable fuel pressure gauge out there? Want to put one in my distribution block since i'm changing up my fuel system a little.

    Also, those of you running a belt drive fuel pump, what do you use to lube the pump when in storage. I've heard a little klotz fuel lube poured into the pump while in storage works well. Just curious what other options work well.

    I use a Moon Eyes and Holley liquid filled gauges. Marvel oil will do the job.

    You're concerned with inconsistent fuel pressure from a Clay Smith pump and you are going to put the gauge on the engine behind your ass??
    Just a heads up, the very beat pump is a complete POS with the wrong regulator. A Clay Smith with the right regulator can fuel a 1200 blower motor with the right reg. The wrong reg on a belt drive can't feed a VW.

    Do yourself a favor, put a gauge where it belong, in the dash.

    The COOLEST small fuel block gauges are the Clay Smiths. I do not recommend liquid fill fuel gauges. They temperature and altitude sensitive and can give false readings.

    If you aren't using E85 or meth, you don't need to anything special for the pump as for as flushing. Its no different than any other pump.

    Yeah I thought about that after I posted but just never edited the post. I talked to Joe also at BLP when I was ordering my pump and he said the same thing about the liquid filled so I wasn't going to go that direction either.

    I don't run an alternator so I can't run any electrical gauges. Can I run that long of a lead to a mechanical gauge? And if so, what would be the best way to plumb it? I have some ideas but probably better ones out their that i haven't thought of yet.

    BLP recommended to flush it even with gasoline and put some synthetic oil in it if it was going to site for awhile. Is it unnecessary to drain the fuel if it's going to sit for an extended period of time?

    Nobody knows BLP stuff better than Hirelio. If he tells you the pump will last longer to use MM, do it.

    I don't like draining fuel lines using any fuel unless you treat them with something like MM. Allow them to dry out is the worst thing.
    Race fuel and AV are the easiest on line and pumps. If its E10 pump, treating the lines with MM for long term can hurt.

    I use a -4 line to a dash gauge. Its not cheap, but you never use the cheap and blower together or you'll get your ass bite. A fuel pressure gauge is your friend.

    Yeah he was the one to suggest to klotz during storage and to drain the fuel from the pump at least. I was more looking for if there were other options similar to klotz but I'll just go with what he recommends. Like you said, he's the guy when it comes toBLP.

    I don't think you can use cheap and boat together either . Do you notice a pressure difference with that long of a lead? I'm probably going to mount it between my feet rather than drill a hole in the dash. It'll look a little cleaner to so were talking a 3-4 foot lead.

    Also, where do you run the line from to get the best reading? Fuel pump? Fuel block?

    There is no pressure drop to the gauge because the fuel doesn't flow thru the gauge. Its not different than an oil pressure gauge. The main thing is if you don't use something like -4 the response time slow way down.

    Lot a guys that use methanol swear by Klotz, and BLP is huge in the methanol game. Its probably one if the best, just a little harder to get than something like MM of 2 stroke oil.

    That makes sense. Wasn't thinking about it that way.

    And yeah that's why I was curious of other options to see if I could get it locally. Guess I'll order it through summit or BLP direct.
