dodnt belive the difference between a old msd and a new msd-6al with rev limiter. guess they madw large strides in improvment.had to agjust down the idle a bit.like they say, burning on all cylinders.

Your saying you went from a old 6 series box to a new one and your idle speed increased? I looked at the new box, asked around alittle bit but nobody really new too much about them, but from what i've been told the box's are pretty much the same. Difference being that the rev limited is 2 stage and you no longer need pills.

belive me, i was suprised. the new has the 6000 rev chip, the old one was used, and dont know how hold it was. but the new msd is about 1/2'' bigger all around. also using a msd blaster two. all this is on a bbf.

This has me confused, the new MSD6 box has potentiometer's (sp?) and doesn't use any chips at all. Got pictures?

I think you have your box's confused.

    Old style MSD box.

Glad to hear of the MSD improvement in the 6AL-2. I have one in my Cole along with the HVC II coil, a coil made specifically for the 6 series boxes. Still need a few pieces to complete my project, but will update this thread when it is running, thanks for the encouraging words.

his old msd 6a was 1 i gave him awhile back, someone gave it to me, i fixed it, and jetboat ran it for a long time before it gave up again(steve, bring it with ya when ya come up, i'll fix it again).

steve, you were already pushing your timing advance a bit hard, better check it before taking the boat out again. if its idle'n higher, chances are its even more advance, which ain't a good thing in your case. get that pump kit, bring yo ass up here, and we'll have ya beating up on the other sj's in da club

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

A dwell change will also give an idle change, dwell can increase and decrease giving a different timing output, whatch for detination..
