Default WTF.... a little help needed on some Chevy Parts:

Long story short, about 6-7 year's ago we did a grading job for a guy. We finished about a week ahead of schedule and he says "Hey I want to give this to you for a tip. You did a great job and finished a week ahead of schedule and since I'm moving in a month I don't want to worry about selling it. Don't ask me what's in it because I don't know I bought it off a guy about 2 year's ago"

I think it's pieces put together to make a decent engine, I want to sell it but haven't a clue what it might be worth:

I just pulled a head off of it today and dropped the pan so I could figure out what was in it.

It looks like the bore is 4.27" and the stroke is 3.76" = 430" (my best measurements)

The block has casting #'s 14015445 (4- bolt)

Heads casting #'s 3873858 ( Hi Perf cast in them. rect angle port)

Rods are H beam, look to be Eagle. They have ARP rod bolts that read; ARP Eagle 8740. The rods have a redish tent print 6.135 on one side of them.

Pistons are Arias, they have the # 41230 FH cast in them and have the # 291458 stamped on them.

And the crank has 20/20 from the machine shop. The casting numbers that I saw are GMT7 and 6223.

Crower roller rockers and a roller hydraulic cam (not sure of the cam maker)

    All ARP fasteners.

Any thought on what something like this might be worth ????

I need to sell it so I can buy some more Ford parts.... or at least parts for the boat.

    Thanks,

    Sleeper CP

    Jon

None it came on the engine stand and with a shop bag on it. NO intake but it had a cheap chrome car type oil pan. It might add to the value

I'm not sure do you not think it's worth anything ?

I was just going to pull the roller rockers off of it and throw it in the metal scrap bin for savage when it was $300+ a ton, but SDPM thought it might be a good ideal to pull a head and pan off to see what was there.... ( Thanks Neil)

    any idea on camshaft ?

    it's a 427 rotating assembly in a 454 block.
probably for the 4 bolt mains.

any port work on the heads ?

if it had a flat tappet cam.. it could have been a spec built deal.
gray paint is a give away.they even masked the pan rails.
(traco used to paint sbc's like that.)

with a hydrolic roller, it is probably a street rod / corvette guy type deal.

all them parts added up cost some money.
    i have no idea.
anywhere from a grand up to alot of couple grands ?

how much is your buddy offering ?

ball park.....a little less than a 460 but real close.

    block is worth 400-500
pistons cost 400-900 depending on what they actually are.
    rods around 450
heads 600-800 they are worth more unported.
crank..not much unless it is steel..200-250
    cam setup around 500-600 new
    rockers 250

that would work real nice in a 69 camaro with a tr and a richmond.

hey, your pulling our leg .....aren't you.

Read the other post. It doesn't look to me like the heads have much if any porting, although I really didn't pay much attention to them. I have no idea on the cam spec's I just what to sell it.

I'll let you know tomorrow if he buys it from me.

No I'm not pulling you leg. We did a good job for the guy about 7 yrs. ago. It's been in our shop for that long, Neil (SDPM) told me to pull a head or drop the pan before I put it in the dumpster.. I'm glad I did What the hell am I going to do with a Chevy.
