    Default CMI Headers?

Can anyone comment on their experience with CMI water jacketed sport tube style headers. Any problems with cracking and leaks? Customer service? Standing behind their product? I am considering all stainless long primary tubes with fully jacketed dry tail pipes or water injected at the very ends to prevent reversion. This is for my 500" N/A V-drive river cruiser.

We have never had any problems with them on any of our customers boats. Although most of our customers keep everything clean & well maintained. I have only seen some of probably 2 sets that have ever cracked & I sort of wonder if is was a problem not related to the "Header" it self that caused it. I was left wondering if it may have been caused by abuse, freeze damage, or poor install.. Again it was not on my boat or one of my customers, just something I had seen posted a time or 2 in the past on the web forums.. Hope this helps Jamie / Lakeside

I see a bunch of them on Ebay, prices vary, seems they all have some sort of repair to them, or are partial systems.

Had a set on my Hallett v-drive for 12 years with no problems. Sold the boat and still see it from time to time and the CMI's are seventeen years old with no problems.

Just remember that the CMI's that Merc installed on the hp500's, are not the same as the ones the public buy. The Merc models seem to be made of a slightly cheaper material spec than the regular units.
