    Default Break In Rockers

Need some opinions from the experts here (once again...yeah yeah I know).

When I break in my new cam, should I leave the inner springs out then reinstall them after break in?

Or should I get a set of break in rockers? Something with like a 1.3 ratio or something?

Depends on what the cam profile is, what cam(solid or hyd), what are the seat pressures open and closed?

For almost any flat tappet application I can imagine coming across here, taking the inners out will suffice.

    Hyd, 234 @ 050, 278 @ 006, 567 lift

120lbs seat, 310lbs open is what we're shootin' for.

Are you sure the inners can close the valves all by themselves?

Sorry...had to. I know what ya meant.

We always break in flat tappet cams with just the outers and a low ratio rocker. Your springs are fairly light so just the outer should be fine. It's scary with the lack of zinc these days. I never take a chance though.

Just leave the inners out jet, it'll be fine.

I broke mine in on synthetic oil too, and would do it again, and would reccomend it.

Just keep your foot out of it till you put the inners back in, 5-grand max is plenty safe.

Not a bad idea at all.

If you have a 10 qt pan run two cans of GM EOS. Dump them directly on the cam before start up. Go to crane cams website. They give specific instruction on cam breakin.

The GM EOS is hit or miss at the dealers, they stopped stocking/producing it, then it was back, and gone again.
