    Default PerTronix and MSD

Are the two compatible? I have a BB Ford here with a Pertronix in the distributor and an MSD 6200 hooked together. Does this sound right? When trying to put a timing light on it, It's not right. (The light, not the timing) The light is streaming, not flashing, and doesent seem to respond much to the dial back...I can go 50* on the timing light and the timing mark moves maybe 5*. Serious crossfire in the cap? Engine -seems- to run OK. I haven't driven it, just trying to make sure the basic tune is OK. The ignition can fire all it wants, but the rotor is only passing that cyl. once, so I'm not sure what's going on here.

ETA...OK...I found out I can trigger the MSD with the Pertronix, but still don't know what's going on with the timing light.

My buddy ran one on his 351W with a msd 6M-2, try a plain jane timing light, have seen the MSD boxs play havoc with adjustable lights, such as the snap-ons.

Thanks Sleek...don't know what it was, but I didn't like the wiring job on this deal, so I ripped it all out and started from scratch, and now everything is normal. I think it was a bad ground.

In all the MSD instructions I have ever read, they ALL advise against using a dial back timing light with their products.

Thanks guys. It was a bad wiring job. It's all back to normal and working fine now. Snapon dial back timing light works fine.
