    Default E-85 and a intercooler????

    I have a 509 BBC with a B&M 420 mega blower and a intercooler and am switching to E-85.

At 8-10 lbs boost is the intercooler a waste?

I read somewhere that someone had frost on their blower case with E-85 on a 90 degree day. If there's frost on the outside, wouldn't there be frosty temps inside? If so, the intercooler with lake water around 70 degrees would actually be heating the air back up.

Before I make a engine cover, I thought I would throw this out for discussion.
If I could lower the cover by removing the intercooler I need to do it now.

    Your thought's?????

    Thanks, Jim

my blown alcohol SBC w/inj hat in my dragster always frosted the hat & blower case...never a prob... its actually condensation from the coldness of the fuel...i do not think u would run into any trouble with the cooler in place & with its function of eliminating detonation etc, i would not remove it...just my .02 cents

    FastRat,

does it frost the blower case below the rotors or above?

if i remember rite (been along time), it frosted the whole case & hat mainly when it was started to warm it up, but, only until it was warm & went away after that

My new build will include a Richard Lee intercooler on E-85.

So, I guess the real question is.......

Has anyone stuck a thermocouple under a blower running E-85?

If the air discharge temp is lower than lake water temp., the intercooler is not needed.

    Anyone?
