    Default carb help please

OK heres the deal, I have 2 (tunnelram) list 80186 750 domis (2 circut) and I get a wicked stumble or bog at the hit. Sometimes it works flawless and most of the time it bogs. Even during cruiseing at say 2500-3200 you nail it and it just about dies and you need to work the throttle to get it back. Im tempted to send these carbs out and have then worked being they are older and dont have adustable air bleeds and such. My main goal(like everyone else) is to eliminate the bog. i have played with squirters, cams and it seems to get better but never eliminated. Would it be better to get new carbs or work with what i have and will these work good or is it the wrong application all together. I need to get this squared away before i stap the unit on. Thanks in advance.

Wish I was there to help you with it! (and drink your beer!!)

Unfortunately, nothing harder than trying to work out a carb issue from 2800 miles away!

Is it a lean stumble or dirty?

Have you tried various float heights?

It's a dirty stumble. yes I have lowered and raised the float level several times. On a side note, the engine is on a pretty wicked angle. I was going to get angled floats to see if it helps, but before i dump any money into these things, i really want to know if the 2 circut carbs are the way to go. I am running a power valve in the primary side and on the dyno it picked up a few HP adding the P/V's.

we couldnt work out the stumble on the dyno either.
Could I drill and tap for air bleeds and try that as well? Right now they just have the press in oriface there

sounds like you need a bigger accelerator pump shot. what size shooters and pump are you running? using a hollow screw?

the problem with 750 dominators is that they put a long ass skirted booster in them to choke down air flow. They literally extended the booster down into the venturi. Iam not a big fan of those POS's, most of the time you would better off with two 1050. For your answer, it may not be as simple a larger shooters. They just dump the same amount of fuel, just faster. You may need to get a larger pump cam. This the ONLY larger cam I know of for a Dom. Good Luck

Hey Futs, if is a dirty or black smoke fat stumble could it be needle and seat issue? As in alittle to much pressure and you are loading the motor up at idle or cruise by blowing by the n&s. For that matter does the motor idle fine for longer than a couple minutes before needing a clean out rap? I have ran 750s on a t/r(square idles and no p/v s and always been clean and crisp. I am not a fan of P/v s on a tunnel ram) Just sounds like it is loading up to me. IMO

Could be your idle mixture screws are not fat enough and i'm not a big fan of PV with a tunnel ram either.

Neither am i a fan P/V but it ran alot better on the dyno when we added them and made more power and cleaned up the AFR. It doesnt load up, just boggs on the initial hit and seems like a dirty stumble.

after reading all of this I can only ask.....

so when do you want to run them ?

I hate problems like this. Do try the biggest squirter you can. I had a bad bog once that I traced back to the float adjustment bottoming out. It flattened the top of the float, but it was over one weekend not a long term deal like yours.

    Good luck.
