    Default HVC II Coils

Any thoughts on using the MSD HVC II Coils? I'm looking to upgrade the
    MSD system a little.

GN7 Correct you are, the MSD 8252, is what I meant to post up. Good stuff Eh? The SS does not lay out right for my application, the 8252 does the trick. Just the price is a bit lofty, so I wanted to make sure is a good piece.

There are 2 HVC II coils, the "Blaster HVC II" http://store.summitracing.com/largei...g=msd-8253.jpg,
    and the HVC II

The 8621 HVC II isn't recommended for the 6 box. I'v been running the 8252 since 2002.

Whats the difference with the red and blue coils? I have been running the red one but the blue one would look better on my Blue boat

I run the blaster 2 coil (the round cheaper one) right now with my 6AL setup, i asked about coils a while back never got a great responce. Whats the advantage to these expensive ones over the blaster II? Is it that big of a difference?

The round can type oil filled deals can shake them selfs to death in a boat. The E-core type coils will take vibration much better than even the epoxy filled cans.

will the 8252 light off what a basic oil filled blaster 2 won't? i'm shopping for a hotter coil for the twin turbo bit, cylinder pressure is gonna get up there pretty high and i doubt a blaster 2 is gonna light it off.

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

I don'tbelievethere is a significant difference between any of the coils for a given box. Seems some trade spark duration for current, or voltage for current. If you need more power, you need to step up to a 7, 7digital or even a 10.

i would think giving up duration for more current would get us there if there's a coil that'll do that with the 6mbtm box(6al with built in btm).its not like we'll need 20 sparks under 3500rpms, just 1 hot mofo at 7500rpms will suffice

if you read the spec for each coil MSD lists the cureent, voltage, and duration of each coil. I believe thats the idea behind the HVC stuff.
