Thumbs up 2005 525 EFI Computer Mapping?

I have a pair of 525's in my 2005 Fountain. I would like to tweek them a bit to get a little more HP out of them. I was told the computer can be "re-mapped" to increase it a little without much risk. Can anybody speak from experience here and maybe recommend who can do it?
    Thanks for your input!

IN MY OPINION THE ONLY SAFE PLACE TO START ASKING FOR INFO FOR THIS ? WOULD BE BY CALLING ARIZONA SPEED & MARINE AT 480-753-0208 IF I REMEMBER RIGHT THE OWENER WAS A FORMER ENGINEERING GUY FOR MERCRUISER BACK IN THE 90'S AND HELPED DESIGN THE EFI SYSTEM FOR MERCRUISER.BUT ALSO THERE IS SOME GOOD SHOPS HEAR ON THE FORUMS THAT WOULD HELP YOU OUT WITH EVERY THING YOU WANT TO DO.

    Default Correct.

AZSM has anything you could want for a 525.

Thanks, but Arizona Speed and Marine says they have no ECU mods for the 525. I have an email into Whipple now at their recommendation.
Any other ideas on how to get a few more horses under the hatch?

Either Supercharger or more cam and heads.

Or, just be happy with what you have. Even if there is a remap, it would only be 10-15hp per motor. You probably wouldn't even notice the difference in a Fountain.

Not a whole lot left in those. They come with a pretty 'hot' cam, good heads, good intake system, and real good exhaust.

If you haven't already, I'd talk to a 'tuner prop' shop like Throttle Up that works with tons of racers and high performance boaters. Maybe they have a set up for yours ? They have a huge database on many boat/engine configurations.

Well You Might Be On The Right Track With Whipple And If Not Would Be X 2 On What Cfm And Beer 30 Said But Imo If You Start Playing With The Engine A Little You Could Loose The Relieabuility Of A Turn Key Start Almost Every Time.if You Are Looking For 2-5 More Mph And Not Played With The Props Yet You Could Find It There.also Make Sure You Read To Lab Or Not To Lab In Foums For Some More Prop Info.and If You Do Go With Some One Like Whipple You Will Need To Buy Bigger Props But Buy Labed Ones From Merc You Will Be Much More Happier, Good Luck.

To make any useable HP difference, you would be looking here:

However, you would also be wanting to consider outdrive upgrades. 800hp/800tq, you would be on borrowed time with XRs.

I thought AZSM closed. If not, i sure as hell wouldn't let them tune my fiddle much less a HP525EFI after what they did to my (and numerous others) HP500 EFI's
    Try Larry Peto in Tucson

Dustin at Whipple is the only one doing the 525's or 496's with the PCM555computer. I wouldn't do it however. It's not worth the risk, and I've seen problems with the 496 programs that haven't been resolved.

As for AZSM, I heard they closed also. The list is long of the people I know personally that they've screwed up their computers.

X2 on Larry Peto, for the MEFI stuff. That's where I send people after they've lost a motor that AZSM has ruined.

Here's the reality, Dustin said he could give approximately 25 to 40 more hp on the 525 but you would have to run 91 octane or better. So for 25 hp, you're going to tweak your timing curve to point that you could damage your motor if you don't have the right octane, assuming everything else is perfect in the program and you don't have any glitches. How much faster will you be with 25hp? Not enough to spend 600 dollars and run the risk of burning a hole in a piston.

If you want to make you Fountain run faster, do Imco lowers, or a nose cone. You could also try some 6 blade Herrings. Call Julie at Throttle Up for some prop advice. http://www.throttle-up.com/home.htm Don't mess with those nice reliable motors, you will be sorry.
