320's are a bit large for a 496 in a big boat like that..guessing a max of about 5400rpm...maybe 5500...It's goign to be a task for an off the shelf cam to make the best of that combination. Wht's the LSA (lobe centers) on your cam? Compression, exhaust, etc. would help.

hello 496 river i guess first what compression? what exhaust type headers- thru hull ?????? 1/4 mile boat or river blaster

heads sound decent for a big lift roller combo,
and the tunnel ram setup is more a mid to upper rpm combo but then the small carbs hurt

so at this point need alot more info. cant cam a 9.5 comp like a 14.1 motor

you will find some great info from the guys here.

if you would put on a set of ported ovals port with large valves and single plane victor jr and a 850 carb
your going to need all the torque you can get with that 21 foot j

as for me put a roller in it if you are dollars ahead and you will save $$$$

yeah i was going to go with oval ports to make a good grunt motor but i pic these up and already had the cam so if i use the cam i have with the specs will it work the 496 should make good power plus tq rite this is just a river hopper from sand bar to sand bar im not racing it but i will have my foot in it alot

what kind of exhaust?? tube headers or logs or?

sorry the heads are for 6500 and up and that is hard to patch up with any camshaft design.

q: is the bottom end built for a small shot of spray. 75-125 hp kit?
other than that i think your going to hate it.

You'd be way better off with those. You're lookingt at an honest 675-680hp potential (@ 100% ve) with those heads.

What rpm do you want to turn the mill?
What type of cam is in the engine now? Flat tappet or roller?
Have you got the flow numbers on either set of heads?
