Is this a necessary item on a boat that's never stored in the water or gets filled up with gas from dock pumps?

I have ran one for years but never seen any water in it every time I've dumped it out or changed the filter. I have been running the NAPA 3225 canister type filter. Reason I'm asking, is I am swapping over to a new fuel injection system (Holley EFI) and I don't want to impede flow to the injectors by adding another filter that the fuel injection system wasn't designed around. The new fuel system already has a 100 micron pre-pump filter and a 10 micron post pump filter.

I think the 3225 filter is like 10-12 microns, so not that restrictive regardless, but still wondering...
