What is the idle check pressure set at ? 2,3,4 lbs ?

    Set it at 8-9 lbs

Then adjust the barrel valve just to the lean side, right when it stops "hunting" !

When you adjust the link, go a flat at a time, let it sit a couple seconds to clean out,
if it needs a few more, give it more, just let it clean out at each flat.

Fat idle makes it surge. WB hit the nail on the head. Lean it until it stops...
But, do not lean to far!
It will be slightly harder to start without a primer system or bottle....

spring is 3 lbs now ill try to shim it tighter I don't have a selection of springs,, my hilborn 8 stack I never had a problem like this ,, this setup with gas im not going further than 28 on fixed timing even with the intercooler at 15 lbs boost its good. i just bought a inline an6 gage adapter and gage to see what idle pressure is at the barrel valve, ill crank it over tomorrow .I cant tell if the newer tight super charger or the cam change along with a different hat is compounding a small issue I did too many changes at one time now im lost runs great above 3000rpm

it had a 3 lb spring guage showed 10lbs so ok I put a 8 lb spring in but gauge was pegged at 15 running 1800 rpm changed jets to 32 still seems rich I have a set of 30.s too ill try next also im going to drop the main pill from 125 to 130 ran a lot better but its a fine line on the rich to lean still. I do know now its closer when I kill the fuel to the engine its just flat stops before it would rev up 1000 rpm clean out , like leaning out, then stop
, reving it up it sounds good no studder or popping didn't get a chance to lake test it but it still is drinking alot gas too.. blower pressure guage is still showing a hard 18lbs boost running even on the 871 with a 50 top and 50 bottom should I drop maybe to a 45 on the bottom since I have one that was going to be my top pully but that's a little too much pipoes are still suety black along with plugs but not putting anything down hard either

    Not being disrespectful.
It seems as if you are trying to solve a half a dozen different issues at a time.
This never has worked well for me.
You gauge looks to be on the inlet line. This will NOT reflect idle check valve setting properly. Bernoullis theorem??
I learned how to set check valves from the Speed Sports fuel boat guys. Maybe they are right. Amos Saterlee seem to be somewhat knowledgeable (haha)
They use "cracking pressure" to set the check valves. Use a good quality gauge from grainger. You only need a 50 psi gauge. Large diameter, as numbers are spaced farther apart. I have a 25 psi for idle, and port lines. A higher for high speed.
Take the check valve out of the barrel valve. Use a leakdown style tester with the real gage. Open regulator until air begins to flow. This will be your pressure. I will look and seeif my setup is easily found, or buried in race stuff.
So, I would go back to a basic tuneup. Enderle is the man. Goodvibrations motorsports will also set you up. Go from there. They will set you up rich. Of course... But it confirms all of your other settings are correct.
    Then, tune your top end.
Then fine tune idle for your preference.
I am sure you are well aware, mid throttle is not the MFI forte'.

    COME ON!!!! WHERE IS BOB?
No one???? Anyone want to disagree?
    Remember the disagreements?
    The name calling?
    The flat, out pissed off?
I know there were times, we all would have come to blows.. if sitting in a bar.
    All of us.
God bless you Bob. We miss you.

I'll disagree with you on this, when it is set up correctly or "fixed" ,,, it can be a pleasure to use,,imo !

Can't wait to start asking these types of questions, resurrecting the BA engine.
Anyone can pedal a bicycle, can you pedal a flat?????

You can disagree... but it takes a tuner to get it set up. The average "joe" will chase his tail all day long.
And, there are surely better systems for part throttle....
    Anything is possible, though.
