454 block rather than a 502 block? What type of compression, or will it have forced induction at all?

OK, rather than just telling you to use a 17040 Fel Pro marine head gasket, I looked it up. Doing it myself I have the gasket on the shelf and would check against the head and block, but here is the page that explains it. Make sure you have the necessary 3/16" margin across the top for proper sealing.

You may also chose to run a 1071 MLS gasket, more expensive, and it's supposed to require a smoother finish on the block and head, I run them on forced induction engines.

    Default Head bolts/studs

Give the gaskets a chance to seal by using NEW fasteners.... Bolts or studs, what ever you choose, but make them quality and new and follow instructions about torque and thread lube....
