Dart cam bearing bores are all the same size unlike the BBC. So you have to use Darts cam bearings or use 3 sets of BBC cam bearings to make a set.
The soft plugs are different size than the BBC but no big deal there.
You have to use a head bolt kit from Dart or ARP for the extra head bolts in the valley.
Summers gear drives won't bolt to the Dart's block face....either don't use summers drives or modify the drive to fit.
Otherwise all Mark IV fits.
It's a far superior block to the Chevrolet in structure and oiling. It's the way to go if you have the coin.
I agree, studs are the way to go, whatever the application.
Here's the scenerio- much like Johnny, I'm looking to put together a blower motor but for river use in a full size 21 v drive cruiser. I have a stock bore 454 4bolt in the shed for the day I decide to go for it. For what guys are paying for these 4 bolt blocks I could see ponying up the extra coin for a Dart, but how much more are we looking at?
