locomotive they've got some bigassssss centri blower's on the engines here local, 1 has the biggest damn turbos i've ever seen on it.

back in the hotboat days, someone posted that camero(i've got the pic saved too) and when it cranked up, it lifted the heads.

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

It's an industrial process blower. I installed 6 of them about 5 yrs ago that were used aireate cardboard paper ponds. similar to the one below. A lot of large air conditioning units are using Lysholm screws that drawf that thing. That one looks to be driven a tad fast for the application

I did some consulting work on one of those turbos that was having a stabilty/vibration problem. About 18" diameter and 20k RPM. The turbo discharge fed a roots style blower that fed the locomotive engine. The engine was used for pumping natural gas. Cool project.

Yep, lots of Roots style blowers used in industry. All those I've seen have iron cases and must weigh more than the BBC it's probably sitting on.

A friend of mine does air conditioning work/HVLP, he told me that they are also used to move massive amounts of air in large buildings, casinos, hotels, ect..

Daid 519 is right, the vast majority of the industrial bnlowers are cast iron, and that one would probably out wieght the car Now they are even using Lysholm,(whipple, psi type) screws to move things like grain, sand, any small granular material.
