    Default Blower Rebuild?

I have been looking around for a Shop to re build my blower. Any Suggestions?

I'm hoping to stay under 300 it's only a 177. Has anyone rebuilt there blower? How hard was it?

The reason I ask, I noticed my 177 leaking oil at the snout. It did this until the seals absorbed the oil and sealed them selfs.

How ofton should a blower be Rebuilt? Teflon the whole nine yards? This one has 10+ years on it.

    Thanks

    Default blower shop

the rotor seals in my 10-71 were bad so i called the blower shop. i said hey, i know its short notice, but can you put new seals in it for me, oh and btw can i get it by the weekend. i told him i didnt think it needed anything else and i wasnt gonna re strip it. he said bring it in and ill let you know. i dropped it off monday afternoon. got a call at about 8:30 am on tuesday and was told it needed a basic rebuild. $500 and something bucks. got a call the next morning and they said come get it. picked it up and a basic rebuild is everything! all bearings, seals, gaskets, and every single bolt on it was replaced with new hardware. it needed wear rings installed on the rotors too. i got all the old crap back in a bag. im glad it was all replaced, it wasnt terrible, but it sure wasnt good. gave me new base gasket, carb gaskets, and carb adapter gasket. got home and checked it out and found out they re striped it for free. their service is awsome! no bull shit, just this is what it is come and get it. i told him as i was leaving, i probly should have re stripped it. he told me go run it, its perfect. the blower works perfect! great expieriance, period.

    !!Blower shop!!
I took my blower to an unnamed "San Diego Supercharger" shop. After a week I found out if it needed new teflon strips they would send it to a shop in L.A. Witch turned out to be The Blower Shop, then after 4 weeks I received my blower back...and it did not need new strips.

Is it worth it? I mean its not 6/71 or 8/71. Just a tiny ol 177 with about 5-6 lbs.

I'm thinking of just doing the seals and gaskets.

Yes, PM BlowerRepairMan here on the boards. He runs a local business in phoenix Sundevil Super Charger Service. He is very knowledgable, and thats an understatement. He worked for PSI before he moved on with his own ideas. I actually talked to him a while ago about a 177 becuase a buddy in our group has one. He said he's done them before. If nothing else he could give you a good direction to go with it.

10 plus years!!! Dam, I'd be finding the guy that built it to hold up that good in the past
