Default MSD BOX marine or non marine??

Seems like I heard once the marine ones are more prone to get hot(because they're buried in poly urethane) and burn out faster than the street ones. I'm not sure if the marine ones even have the option to retard timing for nos or not???? What box are you guys running??

Ironically two 7 series msd boxes would save me alot of money.....I could rename the boat the WIFE ELIMINATOR. lol Wait a minute maybe that would cost more.....I have to think about this

LOL!!! I had a marine 7-ML2 that was about 15 years old. Hit a SEVERE rain storm going to Marble Falls one year when the boat was on a road trailer (Complete mess), anyways she lasted until last year. Sent it in and they said it had signs of water damage. Whether or not they run hotter, not sure. I use to play on the river with it, no problems..

Thanks for the input...it looks like if I use the 6a I can use my hei for the trigger, that's a bonus. This is probably a dumb question but do either of these boxes(6a or 6al) have a retard function for nos??? Or do I have to go to the digital 6 for that?

No retard in the regular "6" boxes.

don't buy the marine box, because it's potted in "humiseal" if something
go's wrong with it, it's not repairable.

My experience with an MSD box...

On a 10:1 500hp BBC it made absolutely no difference at all in performance. IMHO you could better spend your money elsewhere. Just my $0.02.

the 6 al box has to be connected to the msd timing computer to pull timing for nitrous

    Default Fock I hate electronics.lol

I'm still trying to figure out all this msd chit. From what I've read about the timing computer it will allow you to custom curve your timing and I assume it has a retard function for a wot switch and not just a rpm window switch...I dunno. I just want to run locked out and then pull timing out when I hit the fun button(nos). If I can do that(pull timing) with just the digital 6 and use my hei to trigger it, that's probably the route I'll go. I'm always open for suggestions from peeps that have been here done this....

Instead of trying to overcomplicate chit...why not just run the MSD timing retard and be done with it? Why all the complication with running a box, timing computer, etc etc?

Don't you have to run a box to use the timing retard? Thats the way I would go. 6al box so you have the rev limiter and a timing retard wired to a solenoid and you're good to go.
