WHAAAAAAT......20k? Holy sh*t. Do they ever come up used? what do they go for used?

F the CMI's....what I like is the intercooler box on top...what is inside? top mounted carb style efi? Can a water cooled manifold be used instead of the CMI's?

Now I understand why guys here are making their own from home depot parts

You can find some used to not often. The Richard lee Pentium/ innercooler can be had used for usually under 2000k. I think one sold not long ago for around 1500. Place a wanted ad and see what u come up with.

Look around in the Spam section you might find a used EFI unit.

There is/was a complete Race Arrow system in the spam section "jstnoc" Mike Thorpe had it up. Hardware was originally mine. I have a Richard Lee intake and intercooler box with out radiator cores. Am using the cores in a new sheetmetal 16 injector intake I am having built. I sold another R Lee complete for 2000.00. After market watercooled exhaust manifolds can be used and some flow pretty damn good. Anything can be fabbed up. The more you can do yourself the less it costs. Just bought a pair of monster T6 Garrett 91mm turbos on another forum for 3500. I will build my own stainless watercooled covers for them. Should be all in for about 15,000.00.

    Intake/IC 3000.00 w burst panel
Exhaust 300.00 21/8" primaries Drake cast alum. watercooled
    2 Blowoff valves 400.00
    2 wastegates 1000.00
    16 injectors 1000.00
    2 turbos 3500.00
    Fast XFI EFI 3000.00
    Lee intercooler 1200.00
    COP ign 1000.00
    misc 800.00

    dnewps,
A blanket statement about EFI systems for you to consider,

After getting the maps properly adjusted, you're going to make the same total HP with ANY brand system.
From an inexpensive megasquirt to a high dollar EFI Technology unit and everything in between. There is no hp advantage of one over the other.
Also, in comparing sequential injection, to bank to bank, to a multipoint system. They are all going to make the same total HP too.
Some may be more user friendly than others, but spending more is not going to get you more HP.

Any reason that an older intercooled PFM or Banks draw-thru unit can't be converted to a port injected EFI system?

OK to leave it as a draw-thru with a throttle body in the original location between the two turbo inlets, or blow down into a modified throttle plate assembly?

Any real horsepower difference between the two as long as enough throttle body area is provided in each case?

At what horsepower level do the older log style exhaust manifolds begin to limt gains?

    Thanks, Mark

No reason at all. I would go for Race Arrow, Banks, PFM in that order. I chose Race Arrow in 77 because Bill Dunsmuir Sr., owner, was being advised by John? Drake Drake Eng. of Indy car fame that led to turbos being outlawed. Tom Gentry was just a rich guy that started out Offshore racing with Race Arrow stuff and eventually bought them out and that is why Carson has all the RA stuff and the Gentry next generation stuff. Gentry died in a boat accident, if memory serves me right, shit that is the first thing that goes. A lot of the aftermarket exhaust manifolds will flow better than the Banks logs, RA logs or the PFM chit. With the older style turbos etc. you are probably limited to 900/1000 hp depending on cu in of motor, fuel, timing etc.

Thats my old Hallett Vector, it is a Richard Lee innercooler and his fuel injection set up. He is located in Lake Elsinore. The motor is a 496 built bu Gary Teague. The system worked very well and was dependable and driveable.
