Default Can anyone tell me about this dizzy?

It's an msd distributor with the part numbers 8460 and 5400. No dice on the MSD page when searching for info. Nothing with these part numbers on Ebay even. Can anyone give me any info on this? I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

ooooooh... old school! That is a really old msd... i'd venture to say early 90's at the newest. The little blue box was the module dealy-o so it could be run without the "box".

Thanks for the info! Is it worth anything? Was it any good? I'm trying to decide whether to keep this as my backup distributor (to my Pro Billet), or keep my trusty HEI.

I picked up the motor in the pic to put in my boat to sell the boat (keeping my motor for the next boat). I'm just trying to decide if there is anything worth keeping before I off it. It isn't a bad engine. Mortec says 2 or 4 bolt mains (thanks that helps a lot). It has 049 heads though.

I need a running engine. Since I don't have and spare heads at the moment, what would I replace them with?

If you want to buy them from me, remove them, install yours, and warranty your work all before this weekend, be my guest

Now that I think about it, I do have a set of 396 peanut port heads that would work on there. Hey as long as it runs right? ...

Make me an offer I suppose. Better yet call me after work. I'll be working until 7pm tonight or call anytime tomorrow.

You want the distributor too? As stated above it's a rare antique and therefore worth more $

If you have a billet then it would make a good backup as it would just plug in (leave the blue box dealy unplugged). Don't see too many billets take a crap though... mag pickup is a ford piece and easily obtained at the local part store if in a pinch.

Btw... 396 did not come with peanut ports... closed and semi closed were large ovals.
